Yingling Aviation Offers Savings And Convenience With New Self-Serve Refueling Station For 100LL Users

New Pump at Mid-Continent Airport Will Offer Avgas 24/7 at Reduced Rates

February 20, 2008  (Wichita, Kansas)  Yingling Aviation,  established in 1946 at the old Wichita Municipal Airport and a fixture at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport since it opened in 1954, is adding another customer convenience to its list of award-winning services by offering a self-service refueling station for users of 100 low lead gasoline.  Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the fuel pump will provide the 100LL for piston-engine aircraft at rates that are significantly lower than full-service charges, as well.  It will be located at the south end of the Yingling ramp adjacent to the airport fuel farm.

Operating much the same way an automotive self-service pump, the self-service facility will allow customers to pay with a credit card and pump their own fuel.  Yingling, which recently completed a major 9,000 square foot expansion to its facilities increasing their McCauley Propeller service shop, Parts Department and Line Service is adding the self-service avgas refueling “to provide our customers with an avgas fueling option,” said Lynn Nichols, Yingling’s chief executive officer.  “The savings and convenience associated with self-service refueling means that our pricing will be competitive with any other facility in the area and purchases at our self-serve pump qualify for the Phillips 66 WingPoints program. We will continue to offer unmatched service in all the other aspects of our business, as well,” he added.

“The Airport Authority is strongly in favor of anything that will help General Aviation pilots cut their costs of flying.  Self-service fueling stations have been highly successful at other airports across the country in providing fuel at a lower cost than full-service facilities.  We’ve got to do everything we can to boost the industry and keep folks flying,” said Victor White, Wichita’s Director of Airports.

Yingling is a long-standing affiliate of the Cessna Aircraft Company and has been designated as one of three domestic sites to reassemble and test fly the new Cessna SkyCatcher personal and training aircraft.  The company also installs the Oasis interior in Cessna’s single engine turboprop Caravans. Yingling is also an authorized dealer and service provider for a leading component and systems manufacturers including Avidyne, Garmin, McCauley, Rockwell Collins, and Honeywell as well as Phillips Petroleum.

Progress Report for 425 & 441 Supplemental Inspections

"The News is Great!"

January 15, 2009 (Wichita, KS) On June 1, 2007 Cessna implemented additions to the Continuous Inspection Program of the 425 & 441 Maintenance Manuals affecting the model fleet. This revised maintenance program incorporates a series of Supplemental Inspection Documents (SID) to the Chapter 5 Phase Inspection program. The newly added inspections are designated Phase Inspections 31-62 for the 425 and Phase 29-55 for the 441.

To date Yingling Aviation has successfully completed several of the new Phase Inspections on Both 425? s and 441? s with very encouraging results to report. No problematic trends or areas of particular concern have been discovered during our inspections of the 425 or 441 models and overall the final reports are very, very good! Owners can be confident the Conquest I and Conquest II have aged very gracefully and indications that the models will continue to provide the outstanding service for many more years to come.

The new SID inspections require capabilities and manpower beyond that of many facilities. Without a doubt, the single most significant issue we have seen in this program is the disappointments of owners who had have trusted the maintenance of their Conquest at a facility inexperienced in the model. The one trend to report is general discoveries of less than detailed maintenance on some aircraft. We are seeing some airplanes for the first time and we are finding a number of small issues and some more significant problems. This is generally an indication of unfamiliarity with an aircraft model.

Yingling Aviation is the oldest and the most experienced Cessna Authorized Propjet Service Center. As a partner working with Cessna to support the Conquest? s Yingling is absolutely prepared to efficiently handle all aspects of the Conquest I and II maintenance program. Yingling Aviation Completes Propeller And Line Service Expansions

June 12, 2008 (Wichita, Kansas) Yingling Aviation, a Cessna affiliated general aviation services provider located at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport Has completed a major 9,000 square foot expansion to its facilities. The additional space is being used to expand Yingling's McCauley propeller overhaul and service capabilities and accommodate its line service operations. Yingling is an authorized McCauley repair service center.

"This expansion will allow us to move well beyond our traditional aluminum propeller repair and overhaul capabilities and make our shop one of the most modern propeller services facility in the Midwest. It will create new jobs in both the short and long term. We have invested in the latest technology to give us more direct control of our quality. In the past, we used outside vendors to perform some of our analytical inspection processes during the overhaul of a propeller. Those outside processes have now been moved in-house for greater control, lower costs and faster turnaround", said Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling Aviation.

In addition to the propeller shop, Yingling's shipping and receiving department has also been centralized and, along with parts inventory and the tool crib, its area has been increased. The expansion also includes a new larger paint shop, two segregated battery rooms for testing and charging, and a new employee lounge.

Yingling's line services office has also been relocated, and a new garage for ground service equipment was added. To make room for the expansion, a number of concrete T-hangars built in 1954 were razed. This also has provided more room for aircraft parking on the ramp and improved overall visibility and ramp safety. Hutton Construction served as the contractor for the project, completing it in slightly more than 7 months.

Yingling Aviation Looking Forward to Being Cessna Skycatcher Reassembly Site

Wichita, KS—January 17, 2008Yingling Aviation isn’t wasting any time preparing for the Cessna Model 162 SkyCatcher.  With yesterday’s announcement that it will be one of three domestic reassembly sites for Cessna’s new light sport aircraft, Yingling revealed that it will be ready when the first airplanes produced in Shenyang, China arrive in the U.S.  The firm is currently expanding its facilities at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport, and making some modifications that are designed specifically for the SkyCatcher.  First flight of the prototype Model 162 is set for the first half of 2008 and deliveries are expected to begin in 2009.  Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, plans to produce up to 700 a year at full-rate production.

“We’re extremely pleased to be selected to reassemble, conduct acceptance test flights, and deliver the aircraft to Cessna’s Sales Team Authorized Representatives (CSTARs),” said Lynn Nichols, chief executive officer for Yingling, which has a long history of collaboration with Cessna, having been selected as its very first dealer in 1946.  “In advance of this announcement we made sure that our current facility expansion included key elements that will accommodate the SkyCatcher,” he explained.  “For instance, the shipping/receiving area is being expanded, plus we’re installing a 23’ by 9’ hydraulic floor lift that will assist in offloading the aircraft from the shipping containers in which they arrive.”

Nichols also offered information on Yingling’s designated reassembly area, which will incorporate large windows along the length of the line, and be completely open to public view.  It is being enhanced to provide any visitor a visual, yet secure self-guided tour of the SkyCatcher reassembly process.
To assist Cessna customers who wish to check on the progress of their SkyCatchers, Yingling will also install web cameras and issue individualized passwords that will allow them to monitor their airplanes’ progress, 24/7, while it’s being reassembled.  “In addition,” Nichols commented, “when Cessna reaches full production of the 162, we realize that the number of aircraft we will be reassembling will obligate us to further expand our facilities in the future.  We are taking our partnership on the SkyCatcher reassembly process very seriously.  This new plane will open many doors for current and future aviation enthusiasts, thus providing new fuel for the growth of the general aviation industry,” he added.

Nichols concluded by stating that “Yingling has a long-established reputation as a world leader in supplying parts for Cessna aircraft.  We’re known for providing expert maintenance and service for both new and legacy Cessna airplanes— Citation jets, propjets, twins and singles. With our completion work on Oasis interiors for Cessna Caravans, the installation of the Special Missions equipment for the Civil Air Patrol, and this designation as a reassembly site for the latest addition to the Cessna product line, we’re rapidly becoming a very familiar name to buyers of new Cessnas, as well.”

Yingling Aviation Announces Hassle-free Program for New 441 Progressive Maintenance

Wichita, KS—December 10, 2007On June 1, 2007 Cessna implemented a new Continuous Inspection Program affecting the 441 Conquest II fleet. This revised maintenance program incorporates a series of Supplemental Inspection Documents (SID) into the Phase Inspection program.

Yingling Aviation Welcomes Older Aircraft;  Long-Time Cessna Affiliate Is A World Leader In Servicing Legacy Models

Wichita, KS—January 23, 2007Citing recent reports that some aircraft maintenance and repair facilities were turning away aircraft older than 18 years of age because of insurance and liability concerns, Yingling Aviation, the longtime Cessna affiliate at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport, responded by stating emphatically that “we welcome customers who are flying older models because we believe we can provide them with what is arguably the best service available.  We have established maintenance procedures, tooling and expertise working on Cessna single and twin engine aircraft, and located across from the factory, so if we run into an anomaly, Cessna’s product support is minutes away,” noted Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling.

Nichols was responding to articles published in aviation media which noted that some maintenance facilities were turning away work on airplanes whose age placed them beyond the statute of repose limits established in the General Aviation Revitalization Act (GARA) of 1994.  The facilities based their refusal on concerns that the focus of litigation in the case of an accident involving an older aircraft could shift to the maintenance shop.  “I would not argue that plaintiff attorneys have and will migrate their lawsuits towards aircraft maintenance and avionics facilities when they have a legacy aircraft incident that falls outside the 18 year window GARA represents.  By virtue of GARA, navigating a lawsuit towards OEMs has become more difficult after the first 18 years of an aircraft’s service life.  That is a good reason why all maintenance facilities should have properly trained personnel, impeccable inspection procedures, and a quality assurance program that ensures any discrepancies have been accurately addressed.  We’ve built an extremely strong reputation on our ability to support older aircraft.  In fact, more than 90 percent of our business is currently providing comprehensive support to Cessna legacy aircraft, including 500-650 series Citations, Conquests Is and IIs, and Cessna single and piston twins,” Nichols said.

“Yingling is the primary partner of Cessna ‘Proof Kits’ to the Cessna factory for legacy and current production models,” Nichols continued.  “We work with the manufacturer directly to support developing applicable Service Bulletins and repair schemes for Cessna aircraft young and old, whenever the need arises.  An obvious example would be the Spar Strap kit Cessna developed and continue to offer for operators of Cessna 400 series twins and Conquest turboprops.  Our maintenance team assisted Cessna’s engineers on what was needed to install, such as time study, methodology and procedures.  That’s a program that is directed specifically to older airplanes which may have developed fatigue cracks over a period of extended service.  It’s the kind of service we’re proud to provide.  From my chair, Cessna Aircraft Company takes a serious and pro-active approach in supporting legacy aircraft.  And, we take great pride in helping operators of legacy aircraft extend the life and usefulness of their airplanes,” he explained.

Yingling is also involved in new and used aircraft sales and has developed a Joint Ownership Program featuring refurbished Cessna Conquest turboprops.  The firm plans to add a previously-owned Citation to the mix in the near future.  “Our expertise in working with older aircraft has provided us with a variety of business opportunities we wouldn’t have if we focused purely on current or recent production models.  We will continue to welcome and provide exceptional maintenance and repair services for aging aircraft, " he concluded.  “It just makes good business sense.”

Yingling Aviation Launches CessnaDirect.com, A New 24/7 On-Line Parts Service

Wichita, KS—January 11, 2007—Yingling Aviation of Wichita, Kansas, the world’s largest Cessna Aircraft parts supplier, has expanded its spare parts services by launching CessnaDirect.com, an on-line parts ordering capability.  It can be easily accessed on the Internet or by going to Yingling’s website, selecting the PARTS tab and clicking on Purchase Parts.

The new service provides customers with the ability to make inquiries, check availability, order parts and  pay for them on a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days per week, 365 days per year basis.  “With the high volume of orders and inquiries we receive, this new on-line parts service will enhance our ability to respond expediently to inquiries and process orders in a timely way,” noted Lynn Nichols, Yingling’s president.  “It will also make our entire parts operation more efficient by providing customers with live, up-to-date information on the status of orders and parts inventories.  CessnaDirect.com receives daily reports on parts availability from the factory, as well,” he added.

“Adding this capability means that the fastest Cessna parts supplier in the world just got faster,” added Bobby Thompson, Yingling’s Parts Manager.  “It will allow us to process more orders, more quickly.  It’s already proving to be especially helpful in responding to international customers.”

Yingling previously provided parts information and an e-mail address or telephone contact number.  Customers could utilize them to make inquiries about parts and wait for an e-mail response.  Payment on-line was not available.  “Now, in less time than it used to take a customer to initiate an inquiry, he can check on the availability of a part, order and pay for it and we can process it and send it on its way,” Thompson concluded.

Yingling Aviation Launches Joint Ownership Program With Cessna Turboprops

Wichita, KS—December 18, 2006Yingling Aviation has introduced a Joint Ownership Program which offers partnerships on refurbished and updated Cessna twin turbine aircraft capable of carrying 8-10 passengers.   “By creating joint ownership arrangements for the purchase of two Cessna turboprops--a Model 441 Conquest II and a Model 425 Conquest I --we are able to offer the buyers the benefits of aircraft ownership without any of the drawbacks that go with buying a fractional share,” noted Lynn Nichols, Yingling’s president.   He added that, “Since they are recognized as owners by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and their names appear on the aircraft registration, the partners share jointly in the tax advantages and spread the operating costs equally.  We’ve structured our program to provide them with significant additional savings over typical fractional ownership, too, because we don’t charge a monthly management fee or add any markup on fixed costs, such as hangar rental or maintenance.  On the other hand, we do provide breaks on such things as fuel costs and insurance rates.  Our aim is to leverage all aspects of the program to benefit the partners.

“This joint ownership approach has already proven to be very popular among clients from small to medium-size businesses, especially in the health care industry.  We currently have four doctors who are participating and a number of additional prospects who have expressed interest.  This concept is particularly well-suited to physicians who provide care to rural communities or those with remote business ventures.    It provides an affordable, practical and versatile means of meeting their unique travel requirements,” he added.

Yingling launched the program after securing initial partners for the first two airplanes.  The Conquest II, on which Yingling remains a major partner, is also used by the firm in its Part 135 charter operation.  It was originally acquired a year ago and completely refurbished.  The Conquest I, which is currently owned jointly by Yingling and a building contractor, underwent an identical interior and exterior refurbishment, as well, and re-entered service earlier this month.  Both aircraft offer updated three-way seats, new carpeting and headliner treatments, a state-of-the-art entertainment package with DVD and audio CD capabilities,  and forward and aft bulkhead-mounted 10” video screens with wireless headsets.  The Conquest II can seat up to 11 passengers and cruise at speeds up to 295 knots.  The Conquest I offers space for up to eight occupants and a top speed of 263 knots.

“Both of these airplanes are ideal for this type of program,” Nichols pointed out.  “They provide the flexibility, cabin amenities and the kind of range and performance that the partners desire—and without the hassle or inconvenience associated with traveling on the airlines.  We have also gone to great lengths to ensure that the owners we’ve put together have similar, compatible travel needs so that aircraft availability and the expense and concerns associated with ‘dead-head’ positioning legs—where no passengers are on board—can be minimized or eliminated altogether,” he added.

Yingling has assigned dedicated flight crews to each aircraft to ensure that the aircraft are properly maintained and the owners’ travel needs are met.  “To facilitate trip planning, we have established an electronic flight scheduling capability,” Nichols continued.  He went on to say that “owners receive a discreet password that allows them to connect via the internet to a flight calendar for their specific aircraft.  Once they confirm their reservation electronically, a message is sent to the pilot assigned to that airplane.  He then calls to obtain details of the flight, the passenger manifest, ground transportation requirements and so on.  The whole process is set up so that the partners and their traveling companions can simply show up, board the airplane, buckle their seatbelts and go,” he explained.

Yingling is already in the process of expanding the program, having acquired a third Cessna turboprop that will be refurbished to match the others and enter service in January.  The company also plans to add a Citation to the program in the coming months.  “Our business model is built on our familiarity with operating and maintaining Cessna products, so all of the aircraft we utilize in our joint ownership program will be Cessnas.  At present we have more than 20 local prospects who are interested in shared ownership and we definitely expect to expand the program over the next couple of years,” Nichols concluded.  Further information on the Joint Ownership Program can be obtained by contacting Yingling’s director of sales, Jerry Pickett via the internet at jpickett@yinglingaviation.com.

Yingling Adds Cessna Conquest II Turboprop to Charter Fleet
Wichita, KS—January 16, 2006—Yingling Aviation, the first fixed base operation to be named a dealer by Cessna Aircraft Company in 1946 was also the first designated as an official Conquest dealer in 1977 when the world’s most prolific airplane manufacturer introduced its twin-engine turboprop to the business aviation marketplace. Now, Yingling has added a Cessna Model 441Conquest II to its charter fleet, which also includes a Cessna Twin-Engine and a CitationJet. The 350 m.p.h. turboprop, with room for eight passengers and a crew of one or two, has been completely refurbished by Yingling’s Avionics, Service and Interior Departments. It offers updated three-way seats, new carpeting and headliner treatments, a state-of-the-art entertainment package with DVD and audio CD capabilities, fore and aft bulkhead-mounted 10” video screens with wireless headsets.

“ The addition of this Conquest II to our charter fleet allows us to offer customers transportation that is both versatile and economical,” noted Lynn Nichols, President of Yingling Aviation. “Our focus is to provide our customers with a range of options for their travel needs. Our Cessna 335 piston twin offers economical cabin-class performance with seating for up to five. It will cruise at more than 200 miles per hour making it perfect for regionally based businesses. Our CitationJet provides business jet performance for up to seven passengers at an hourly rate of $1,350. The Conquest II fits nicely between these two choices, offering an extremely comfortable cabin for up to eight passengers and the exceptional speed/range combination only a turboprop can provide. It has a maximum cruise speed of 350 miles per hour and a range taking it to the east or west coast non-stop. Its outstanding fuel efficiency allows us to offer this aircraft at a very reasonable charter rate of $1,075 per hour. We expect it to be a very popular addition to our fleet,” he added.
